Carlo Scarpa ‘Battuto’ Glass Picture Frame by Venini, Italy, c.1940

A beautiful 1940s glass and brass picture frame designed by Carlo Scarpa for the prestigious Murano glass company, Venini. The glass frame is in the ‘battuto’ style, a French nineteenth century glassmaking technique, which Scarpa harnessed and adopted in many of his glass designs. This rare and early example is signed on the reverse in the brass, ‘Venini Murano’.
